An Inside Look at Pet Training
There is a lot that comes with welcoming a new dog to your family, and one of the most important things is training and connecting with your furbaby! While some people choose to handle it at home, a great option for new pet parents is to look into training classes. But what exactly does a training class do? Are they going to make your dog feel safe and validated? I took the time to learn a bit about what goes on in these classes from Emily, who is a certified pet trainer through Petsmart. She will also be assisting me during sessions with your pets, so this is a great way to get to know her before your session!
Emily has a love for animals and ability to connect with all animals and people that she meets. You can see the love is genuine too with how it was applied to her career and education! She has a Bachelors degree in Zoology and was certified for pet training through the Petsmart in Grand Blanc. She was happy to give me an inside look at the experience people have when doing training classes with her and offer another way to look at committing to training.
"My training techniques are entirely focused on reward based training. We will create a safe environment full of love and support for your dog instead of negativity and discipline. We will start by building a foundation for you and your dog to learn the best way to communicate with each other so that you can take home the techniques they learn in class to practice with them and tailor them to suit their individual needs. Doing this will help you to create a happy life with each other full of mutual love and respect."
"That's the thing about the pet training classes, it's not just for your dog but it's for you too. It isn't just teaching your dog to sit, stay, speak, or other commands but it is teaching you as a pet parent how to communicate with your furry loved one to create a shared bond that will last a lifetime."
While I'm sure everyone reading this understands the importance of a true connection with your dog, it is nice to hear that they will continue getting that love and support when they enroll in training classes. Every dog will benefit from taking a class at least once with their owner, and there are several different levels that they can do depending on where they're at with basic commands. Take the next step with your pet, whether they are new to the family or not you won't regret hiring a pet trainer!
